Joanne's profile
Beauty is found in the extraordinary gift of creating to create. Joanne Hyun Kim was created to spread a little JHK (Joy, Heart and Kindness).
As an American born to Korean parents, being artistic has always been a family descriptor. If there were a family business, it might be considered "Artist", so the struggle to find a single style has been a lifelong challenge. Seeds planted while studying Hearing & Speech at the University of Maryland gave way to a semester of a Lithography printing class. Several decades later, a winding path of careers intersected at Marketing and Event Planning. These years were paved with intuition and inner creativity. Pops of joy could be seen in new artistic outlets on a personal artist journey - from subtle watercolors to creating and capturing the essence of an event to setting a tone with a camera...a new focus on making memorable moments was birthed. After a 20 year pause, there was an opportunity to reconnect with the art of beading, jewelrymaking and mosaics. What may have been a series of disjointed interests over 49 years, now appear to have a common theme: to transport the viewer or receiver of an original piece to a place of pure joy, where life feels lighter and brighter. An artistic style finally determined, but not bound by a single outlet.
