Shahrzad's profile

Shahrzad Taavoni, BS, MATCM, Dip. OM, L.Ac, incorporates vibrant colors, recycled material, light, poetry and music into her interactive light orbs that have largely been inspired by her healing work as an acupuncturist, philosopher, nature lover and spiritual seeker. Her art is made from lightweight shatter-resistant plexiglass from recycled or re-purposed candy machines. She creates her light shows by sequencing all of her orbs so that they dance in coordination with music she has specifically chosen. Her artistic skills extend beyond the domain of colors and shapes. Shahrzad creates her own poetry in her own voice and accompanies these recordings with her art installations and light shows. With the artistry of her words, she has shown remarkable ingenuity and depth of sensual language. Truly demonstrating the boundlessness of art.

Shahrzad Taavoni has had a solo exhibition at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Delaware in October 2010 where President Barack Obama concurrently presented a speech. She has exhibited at the Baltimore Public Works Museum and has had two solo exhibitions at Whole Foods Market, Harbor East in Baltimore in 2013. Not only has Shahrzad's work has been auctioned at the Embassy of Singapore Washington DC and exhibited in Innsbruck, Austria, but she has also been featured on ABC2News Baltimore and Harford Cable Network in 2013. She is currently exhibiting her art at Whole Foods Market, Bowery in NYC (fall 2013- winter 2014).
