Anthony's profile
Anthony Coates
Born in Baltimore Maryland in 1955, I began working as an artist in 1981 with the Department of Social Services doing illustrations for the department’s newsletters, events, banners and other department designs. The department director enjoyed my work and arranged a meeting with the Baltimore City Council landing me a scholarship opportunity to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art where I developed artistic skills in numerous mediums.
Founder of the Reflections Human Development Corporation, A 501 C3, Art, curator, designer, promoter, event planner and organizer.
I am a Free Form Contemporary Artist in mixed media, paintings, photography, sculptures, print making, ceramics, leather, wood, metal etc. Looking for something that had never been done before, I began experimenting with plastic tape from real crime scenes to make a statement in my work. Then the band on plastic merchant bags from stores was made, this triggered a curiosity. I noticed that these bags are transparent and have never been seen or used in the art world. It would give me great pleasure to share my series of Plastic Paintings with the world.
