Bio
Patti Tronolone is an artist and poet currently living in Baltimore. Before returning to her hometown in 2017, she spent 8 years living by the sea in New England and then 13 in the desert of Northern New Mexico. Her luminous landscapes stand on their own as an experience of these pilgrimages and as an inner accounting of the heart’s power. Currently she is making large charcoal drawings on paper beginning with interpretations of rock formations. These drawings have been described as X-rays evoking what is going on inside of the natural forms.
Transitioning from the large charcoal drawings are a collection of collaged pieces—a compilation of separate drawings which have been cut out and assembled on a larger field. These compilations have a narrative quality.
Tronolone has lived her life as an artist since she was young. She spent her early years drawing and painting, then pursued a full career of 35 years working as an art furniture maker. She has returned to drawing and painting full time in the last 16 years.
