Praised for “outstanding technical vocal ability, solid song interpretation and stage presence,” soprano Annie Gill continues to gain recognition as a distinctive and versatile artist. Particularly excelling in the repertoire of Mozart and Puccini, Ms. Gill has been commended for "a glorious voice - opulent from top to bottom.” Additionally, she possesses an extensive variety of vocal colors in her expressive full lyric soprano.
Most recently, Ms. Gill performed the role of opera singer Elena Firenzi in the Regional Premiere of Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me A Soprano with New Stage Theatre in Jackson, Mississippi, and appeared for the seventh time as Soprano Soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Landon Symphonette under the baton of Maestro Stephen Czarkowski. A frequent collaborator with Maestro Czarkowski, Ms. Gill also has also appeared as Soprano Soloist with the Central Pennsylvania Symphony in both their 2024 and 2025 Winter/Spring season concerts. Other recent concert appearances include Soprano Soloist in Mozart’s Requiem (St. Patrick’s Cathedral – Harrisburg, PA), Soprano Soloist in the Baltimore Musicales final concert season honoring the Life and Music of Rosa Ponselle, and as Soprano Soloist in the inaugural concert for The Catalyst Crescendo Concert Series (Baltimore, MD).
As an active recording artist, Ms. Gill most recently appeared on a debut album of the late composer Spencer Huffman’s songs, accompanied by her long-time collaborator pianist, Andrew Stewart. Ms. Gill and Stewart released SONGS OF LOVE AND HOPE in 2021, an album of Czech and Slovak music, on the Orpheus Classical label (available on all streaming platforms). The album features selections from their acclaimed recital “Písně Lásky a Naděje – Songs of Love and Hope” with art songs, arias, and folk songs by Dvořák, Fibich, Smetana, Kaprálová, Martinů, and Bodorová (some of which had never been previously recorded.)
A champion of contemporary opera and composers, Ms. Gill sang the role of Élisabeth Vigée le Brun in the world premiere of Girondines with Wilmington Concert Opera, the role of Con Angel in the world premiere of Garth Baxter’s new opera A Pregnant Pause, and sang three leading roles in the world premieres of The Lives Left Behind with The Silver Finch Arts Collective as part of the Washington, DC Capitol Fringe Festival.
A frequent soloist with leading theaters and symphonies throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Ms. Gill appeared as Soprano Soloist with the Classic Theatre of Maryland in the one-night only concert A Little Bit of Broadway and All That Jazz featuring Broadway star vocalist Laura Osnes, and as Soprano Soloist in Verdi’s Defiant Requiem with the Defiant Requiem Foundation/Indiana University of Pennsylvania Chorale/Penn State Altoona. Other appearances include singing as Soprano Soloist with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, Cathedral Choral Society, Spires Brass Band, Easton Choral Arts, Reston Chorale, Maryland Lyric Opera, Maryland Choral Society, Manor Mill Concert Series, Engineer’s Club of Baltimore, and the Baltimore Composers’ Forum.
With over thirty roles from opera, operetta, and musical theater in her repertoire, Ms. Gill continues to garner acclaim for her commanding interpretations, detailed characterizations, and dramatic performances. Past roles include the title roles in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Massenet’s Manon, Nedda (I Pagliacci), Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Mimì and Musetta (La Bohème), The Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Micaëla (Carmen), La Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Donna Anna and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Serpina in La Serva Padrona with companies including Opera Camerata of Washington, The In Series, Loudoun Lyric Opera, The Singers’ Theatre of Washington, Baltimore Opera Theatre, Aurora Opera Theatre, and Opera in the Ozarks.
Ms. Gill has won prizes from several major competitions, including Alpha Corinne Mayfield Award in Opera Performance from the National Federation of Music Clubs (Grand Prize Winner), the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition (First Prize), the National Federation of Music Clubs Biennial Young Artist Awards (Third Prize), the Russell C. Wonderlic Voice Competition (Third Prize), the Singer Recital Competition for the Art Song Festival of Toledo, OH (Grand Prize Winner), the Orpheus Vocal Competition (Puccini Award), Coeur d’Alene Symphony Young Artist Competition, and the Kentucky Opera Idol Competition (Grand Prize Winner).
In addition to her classical singing career, Ms. Gill is a voice over artist and actor, most notably appearing in over 80 national and regional commercials. Additionally, she appeared as the “Opera Singer” in the Season 2 Finale of House of Cards, and in leading and supporting roles in over 20 feature and short films. Upcoming releases include the multi-award winning short film Invasion '53, and the feature film Fingergun, where Ms. Gill appears as the Soprano soloist, singing Schubert's lied Der Tod und Das Maedchen.
