Marc James Tsakiris is a native of Baltimore, Maryland born in March of 1980. He took interest in art at a very young age after it was discovered that he had drawn Bert and Ernie along with a host of other characters all over his bedroom furniture and walls at the age of three. After noticing his interest, his mother started taking him on trips to local museums and galleries in Baltimore where he fell in love with the Walters Art Museum. There he would discover his passion for medieval and Renaissance antiquities. She then enrolled him in various workshops at the Walters as well as other art programs in the greater Baltimore area. It was the only time he had an attention span. Although he did not pursue formal training or art school, he went on to graduate from Towson University with a B.S. in biology and continues to create art presently. After working with various media and genres, Marc decided to create from passion and not for the commercialization of art. It was after making that decision when he started evolving and learning as much as he could to create his current works. He works primarily on art board or watercolor paper, using a variety of medium like ink, acrylic paint, and even spray paint. You will find an eclectic mix of color, the macabre, mythology, and the human emotion and experience in Marc’s work.
