How are these compositions different from other modern classical music? Burt lives in many musical worlds. He grew up on the traditions of classical music and jazz and became involved in experimental improvised music as a teenager. He blends together the rigor and ornate craftsmanship of classical music with the rhythmically-free, spontaneous, and untuned harmonies of improvised music. His work as an educator affords him opportunities to oversee student works that range through all different styles of contemporary popular music.
A multi-year photographic project by Baltimore artist Jo Brown. The project plays with ideas
of intention, time, and meaning, and is inspired by Italo Calvino, "A Sign in Space" in his
collection of ancient-modern fables, Cosmicomics. I am intrigued by the lack of control that
any artist has over the received meaning of the work. We invest meaning into things that was
not intended, and we fail to see meaning that was. By focusing on this kind of uncertainty,
I hope to foster my ability to understand what is meant (and what is not) by others, and to

"I've been playing the ukulele since September 2003 and had no idea what the future had in store for me. In 2005 I became sponsored by KoAloha Ukuleles in Hawaii and was then invited to perform at the New York City Ukulele Festival in April 2006. Ever since, I've been performing at Ukulele Festivals around the world (France, Italy, Australia, and across the USA). The wonderful thing about the festivals is that the performers are also asked to give workshops. I've given workshops to kids, adults (young and old).
Putting rhythm, melodies, and lyrics into tangible form turns it from "make believe" into "real".

These are songs that will appear on an upcoming album in 2012. Adam wrote these songs about love and loss in response to the end of a long relationship. They were written at the pianos at Bertha's in Fell's Point, in B401 of the Copycat building, and at the Meyerhoff building at MICA. He is currently working on more songs, and hoping to complete the album by the spring of 2012.
These instrumentals all made over the past year at Adam's home in the Copycat building on the corner of Guilford Ave. and Oliver St. in Station North near Penn Station. He was living with the Copycat Theater at the time, a local performance group, and the music reflects their various influences.
