In 2014, I founded Behind the Walls, Between the Lines (BTWBTL), a movement to deepen the awareness of the legacy of racial inequity in America, particularly within carceral control, and inspire activism aimed at its dismantlement. BTWBTL uses spoken word and other artistic mediums as a platform to tell stories, reclaim narratives, and activate the power of those directly impacted to catalyze change.

Iris Music Project (IMP) is a non-profit grassroots organization in Maryland that is redefining what music performance means for residents of retirement communities, nursing homes, and other healthcare institutions. Founded by Lauren Latessa in 2015, the inspiration for IMP is a tribute to her mother Patricia Thomas Latessa who died in March 2020 after living with cancer for over 24 years. Patricia loved gardening; the iris is a symbol of her hope and perseverance despite grim realities.

In Twice, Winzday Love utilizes repetition to emphasize a powerful message of self-worth in the face of heartbreak. "Not gonna tell you once that I matter, not gonna tell you twice."

Through soulful and folk-infused energies, She manages to create a narrative that echoes the sentiment of not needing to assert one's worth more than once.

I frequently go out into the Baltimore art & music scene to catch a show or two. Whether its at The Crown, Metro Gallery, or Ottobar I'll definitely show up to hear some music. But I have to get some shots when I go out.
