Dandelions and Firecrackers, explores the symbolic and literal meanings of dandelions and firecrackers. This work involves playfulness, humor, and integration of multiple mediums. This series plays with the content of both dandelions and firecrackers switching the two elements to play with their meanings. Using mixed media collage for this series gives it a graphic quality, while the use of paint unifies and brings liveliness to the composition.
Collage

a field of attention in which previously unrelated pieces are brought into a
composition, a whole

an opportunity to arrange isolated bits and pieces together, drawing them into
new relationship

at times, my life seems a series of apparently unrelated bits and pieces

in order to make sense out of the events and parts, I must connect them
my I is the glue that connects
in life and in collage

life
a field of attention where I practice the art of collage

Original mixed media collages exploring finding ones place in the world as a woman. These recent works are record of my personal journey of discovering what it means to be a women living in 21st century. Many of us are still finishing school and barely starting careers by mid- twenties, an age that previous generations used to be already married and on their 3 or 4th child. Physical appearance and being attractive is highly valued and heavily weighted for women in order to succeed in life, in relationships, earning status of "married", being hired for jobs, getting promoted, etc.
