Regardless of whatever crazy mess is happening in this world, I take great comfort in the fact that I can open my front door and over the abandoned house across the street, the sky continues to show up, every day. We show up for each other. The Sky never disappoints.
Statement: This film is an exploration in universal gestures within our natural environment and discovering peace, humor, and awe during these uncertain times. Hopefully, a Deaf audience will enjoy and appreciate the film’s meditative nature – something difficult to do with audio recordings on meditation. And, at the same time, a hearing audience will be inspired by the beauty and ease of creating natural gestures, which is the foundation of most sign languages around the world.
The Last Sinn is an ongoing series focusing on how society interacts with the idea of life and how people interpret it in different ways. Born from the experience of losing my mother to breast cancer when I was thirteen, I have always had a hyper-aware experience with finiteness of life. The photographs, which are of a poetic relationship to mortality, dealing with loss, legacy, and finding beauty in life, represent my own inner thoughts, experiences, and outlooks on my past, present, and future.
