Synopsis:

In a world teetering between fact and fiction, digital and physical, the last people on Earth are a group of SoundCloud rappers living in the remote desert town of Crestone, Colorado. Once a spiritual and religious mecca, Crestone serves as a surreal backdrop, blending vast sand dunes, waterfalls, and dark caves with images of tattooed bodies, cosplay wardrobes, and clouds of marijuana smoke.

On April 19, 2015, a young Baltimore resident by the name of Freddie Gray died from injuries sustained in police custody a week prior. The death, which was certainly nothing new with the Baltimore Police Department, sparked outrage and sadness in the community of Sandtown-Winchester, where Freddie lived. These photos depict the response and reactions from citizens over the following two weeks.
Spanning the last few years, The Queens of Baltimore focuses on the long tradition of drag in Baltimore. The project originally stemmed from my desire to learn and understand more about the history, the committment, and the culture of  those that perform.
Beyond Bars project is a transformative program for women inmates at the Women’s Community Correctional Center in Kailua, HI.  The project has been a volunteer effort on the part of Tadia Rice and myself endorsed by the prison administration and the inmates based on a 30 page proposal we made two years ago.  the multi-disciplinary project centers on the stories, images and performances of female inmates.
