Self Portrait (Oil on canvas, 48x36, 2021)Self Portrait (Oil on canvas, 48x36) The first self portrait I have painted in over ten years. I learned a lot from this piece and in turn, it took me quite some time to finish. I found representing myself to be daunting because it's not only about who I am as a person and which aspects of my personality I could choose to show or hide (consciously or not) but also who I am as a painter. The final image turned out to be quiet and still, yet energized with meaning which I'm still considering.

Francis In The Garden (Oil on canvas, 36x40)Francis In The Garden (Oil on canvas, 36x40) This is a painting of my friend Francis. This piece is a departure for me in several ways including the time of day, location, color saturation and more expressive (abstracted in some moments) brushwork. I wanted Francis to sink into (even meld) with the energized, exploding color of his natural surroundings and at the same time feel solitary, statuesque, powerful and challenging.

Reflecting Pool (Oil on canvas, 40x68)Reflecting Pool (Oil on canvas, 40x68) This is the final painting in my 'Night Series' and as such ended up becoming a sort of farewell. Many aspects of my own life were changing when I made this and the painting both celebrates and mourns the experience of change. I'm also referencing the concepts of the shadow-self, ego, grief, letting go and acceptance.

The Deep End (Oil On Canvas, 34x36)The Deep End (Oil On Canvas, 34x36) This is a piece that I started a while back and let sit until recently when I was ready to finish it; fitting considering the contemplative nature of the subject matter. I've always been drawn to, even mesmerized by the mystical green glow of pools at night. In that other worldly light I feel as if nothing else in the world exists and yet, those depths seem to reflect back everything that I've ever been or done or experienced, as if some spell had been cast to lure those passers by who find themselves near the edge.
