My abstracted paintings are based on the composition or organelles in human cells. The images, taken from electron micrograph prints, are from biopsies and most often depict kidney cells. The prints create a way to visually categorize the information in the cell. The shapes in the composition are then used to organize like patterns observed outside the studio, or in the macrocosm. Using electron micrograph compositions has allowed me to break from a representational space, while allowing me to continue melding different processes and surfaces into my work.

Duct of Sick Tissue in a Pathological ProcessThe textures and patterns that are used in these paintings come from my surroundings outside of the studio. The linking of similar designs found in nature or in man made structures are interesting to group. Duct of Sick Tissue in a Pathological Process is a combinations of worn textues on the house visible outside of my studio window.

Nucleaus with Chromatin MaterialThe references for this painting were drawn from old Pennsylvania Dutch wallpaper designs that can be found in this area. My house and studio at the time was covered with their ornate patterns. Here they are stacked upon one another to mimic the topography in a slide that pictures the outer edge of a cell's nucleaus.

Pneumocyte Type 1 & Type2First in a series of pieces that use the composition of organelles in human cells. The painting references two electron micrograph prints that demonstrate various ways of dealing with the Pneumocyte process in Pathology

Muscle Tissue 1The muscle tissue, in comparison to the kidney tissue used in the other images, is much more dense and linear in the way the fiber of the muscle weave their way through the print.

UntitledThis most recent abstraction veers away from the microcosm of Pathology and explores some of the themes presented in astrophysics. The change in sciences have presented the macrocosm in such a way that I have been examining similarities in human interaction and the governing forces of astral bodies.
