US Metics: From Issei to Nisei is the second part of the US Metics project. Issei is a Japanese term used to specify the Japanese people first to immigrate to another country. Their children born in the new country are referred to as Nisei or second generation.

In the process of assimilating while attempting at transmitting heritage in this new land (United States), a disconnect, gap or difference between the Issei and the Nisei becomes apparent. This series of color photographs is an observational study of how materials found within a household can become an insight or a reflection of that bicultural experience.
