About Yefu

Liu Yefu was born in 1986 in Beijing, China. He graduated from Oil Painting Department and got his BA in Capital Normal University in Beijing, China. In 2011, he moved to the United States to attend a Post-Baccalaureate Program at Maryland Institute College of Art. At present, he is pursuing his MFA of photographic and electric media in fall 2012 at MICA and got the highest scholarship.

    It was a long and hard trip to get here. The other side of the earth, the dark side of the moon. No friends, no family, no experience, no language, no ID, no cell phone, no transportation. How I describe it? Ruin, but still beautiful with the spirit. Smell it, touch it and capture it with a colorful eyes. Nothing is important. Keep breathing. Be alive.

    • 3013: A Space Lover

    By establishing different virtual identities, my video presents the possibility of a sweet vanity life in the future. I like to participate with twisted reality events to observe how contemporary people create absurd phenomenon and enjoy inside the system. The main concept is using a sober attitude to look forward our future, especially in this materialized information generation. I describe it as “we are sadly pacing backward, while creating an illusion of opposite”.
