NEW PAINTINGS Solo Exhibition: The Gallery at Monument Sotheby's International Realty in the Village of Cross Keys October 10, 2024 - January 17, 2025
This solo exhibition featured 30 oil paintings created between 2022 and 2024. Many works are inspired by natural surroundings on Hoopers Island where I paint for several months a year. The abundant beauty belies the fact that climate change and rising tides are currently threatening this small community and residents are at the mercy of high and low tides. The later works such as Beacon and Passage to Beyond were influenced by the recent death of my mother Mary Ann Lambros, who lived a very creative life and supported artists and the arts in Baltimore.

TRANSCEND Solo Exhibition: Gallery Blue Door March 20 - April 24, 2021
Painting has always been my way to not only interpret my world, but also to transcend it. When in my studio and deeply immersed in the process of painting the chaos of our times falls away. These works, created mostly in 2020, were inspired by the natural surroundings on Hoopers Island, the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge, and the Chesapeake Bay Region - places that provided tranquil sanctuaries throughout a turbulent year. Current events (Covid, frequent manmade and natural disasters, political upheavals, mass shootings) however, were ever present in my mind and heart as I worked each day. The daily emotional whiplash triggered by seemingly endless horrifying and unconscionable events informed this body of work, however, did not define it. The red palette in many of my works reflects anger, that I process through painting, and attempt to transcend. Transcendence for me is a peaceful rebellion.

WHAT RESONATES Solo Exhibition: Gallery Blue Door June 29 - August 3, 2109
Throughout my career as an artist I have been fascinated by what resonates from a place: what I feel while there, what I remember when I leave and what stays with me as time passes, and how to translate that through my art. Sometimes, it is the overwhelming sensations of how a place looks visually- the colors, textures, patterns, the time of day, the quality of light. However, often it is not how a place looks specifically but- that undefinable quality that makes a place stay with you or resonate. What makes a place penetrate your soul, inhabit your mind, shape your spirit, change you?

RECENT PAINTINGS Solo Exhibition: Monument Sotheby's International Realty Ruxton Gallery and Office November 10, 2022 - January 6, 2023
This solo exhibition is a collection of oil paintings featuring water, sky, and land. All works were created in my studio on Hoopers Island. I work from my imagination only without refence material or initial sketches, as I prefer to allow the intuitive process and memories of places that stay with me to inspire works. Paintings in this exhibition range from framed miniature deeply hued nocturnes to minimal jewel toned twilights and sorbet colored skyscapes. The fiery red palette in Red Tar Bay 1 was inspired by wildfires in California and Hawaii and imagining what it would be like and how I would feel if my beloved Hoopers Island was on fire.

PHOTOS AND PAINTINGS: Upcoming Solo Exhibition at Gallery Blue Door. January 25, 2025 - March 22, 2025
Photos and Paintings is my first exhibition that combines two of my passions: photography and paintings. Each medium satisfies a different creative need for me. Photography allows the immediate gratification of spontaneously capturing a moment in time and composing that image on the spot. Simply put - what catches my eye and captures my imagination at that moment. Painting provides an improvisational experience where the work unfolds and evolves through mark making, discovering textures fortuitously, finding shapes organically, and creating unexpected palettes. The Dorchester Sky photos are taken in Dorchester County, Maryland- views of the Honga River, Tar Bay, the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge, and the greater Chesapeake Bay region. All of my painting are from my imagination: evocations of land, sea, and sky filtered through memory and time, guided by an intuitive process. Climate change and rising sea levels are always forefront in my mind as 2024 was the first year that high tides flooded Hoopers Island so badly that it prevented me from leaving the island on multiple occasions, as opposed to this occurring once a year in the past. There is a constant awareness and a melancholy or sadness of sorts that the island, the community, and the natural beauty that inspires my work will cease to exist within the not to distant future because the island will succumb to rising tides- as many others in the region have already.
