  • Black Gold
    Black Gold

A dream like vision of a matriarchal ancient future. Standing on the platforms you see women in all different stages of life- young, old, mothers, children, even a woman giving birth. The center platform features a grandmother, mother, and baby in a loving embrace. In the waters below are men circling and surveying the area in boats. They act as protectors and space holders for the women to be, to exist peacefully, and in turn they are at peace as well. All of them dripped in gold to show their connectedness and to communicate they are all of the same status- royalty.

    First Mother

The lifeline between mother and baby, the forgotten chakra. The placenta is our mother before our mother, providing us with everything we need from oxygen to nutrients, keeping both mother and baby healthy. This temporary organ is nothing short of divine. This painting is a self portrait of the artist, holding her two daughters, honoring the ritualistic burial of their placentas under the tree her grandfather planted.
