About Inmmezzure

INMMezzure is a specialist in all units of measure. INMM for short, stands for “…from inches (IN) to millimeters (MM)”. My practice includes the purpose of illustrating female empowerment through power tools and other “male oriented” subject matter. I aim to produce new Pop imagery through the tape measure, as well as examine typically male focused objects and meaning in mainstream culture.

  • Best Use of a Tape Measure in a Motion Picture
Best Use of a Tape Measure in a Motion Picture

On a USPS Priority Mail Express sticker displayed horizontally is a shadow of a figure of a man bending over. He holds a flashlight in his right hand, illuminating the darkness and a Yellow Tape Measure in his left hand, measuring the distance across the sticker. Tape Measure has his eye open, tape dispensing from his mouth. Behind the man are two cages large enough for a human being.

This sticker depicts a scene from the movie Barbarian, where the owner of the AirBnB property finds another section of his house, previously unknown to him. He wonders how much extra footage he can get for the new space and goes in the basement with a flashlight and a tape measure to find out.

This film was popular and the artist found the inclusion of a tape measure by the character in this film to be humorous.

A still life of power tools is assembled: a silver wrench in the background, a level in front of it, followed by a Makita power drill in front of the level, a red handled screwdriver in front of the drill and a Silver Tape Measure in the foreground. The text above the still life reads: "Strong enough for a man but made for a woman".

Overall message of examining the usage of power tools, who has the power in using-- traditionally male.

The artist INMMezzure went to school to be an Exhibit Designer, but has had experience in the heavily male dominated fields of Engineering and Architecture.

She has had to design technical drawings for fabricators, build prototypes and conduct site surveys, thus requiring the usage of tools she was not familiar with. Female empowerment through power tools.

Graffiti Gurls

Graffiti Gurls is an ongoing series of drawings exploring street art culture among women and women groups. These activities include tagging spray painting, showing what it takes to get up and be All City.

The artist wanted to focus on women of color as her subject matter to give weight to the history of Street Art that originated in lower income neighborhoods inhabited by minorities.

There are also references to witchcraft as it relates to groups of women hanging around each other in comradery, the hint of danger being out at night, and wishes to ward off evil or unwanted attention.
