About Amanda

As an artist, my work is inspired by landscapes, urban, and waterfront. I am interested in the beautiful crust, decay, layers of pressure, and the marks of time. I seek to express the grit and truth of what I observe and experience.

How to Handle

How to Handle is all about a playful trial and error discovery of making slab handbuilt handles for slab built vessels. The project has started with large bottom mugs, as well as what I have labeled "quick mugs" which are not really quick to make, but I do not use a flat template to cut out the form for the body of the mug. In this project I have been investigating how to make differently shaped handles that can not only fit with my aesthetic of the piece, but also feel strong and secure when the piece is activated through use.
