The story centers on the evolving romance between two immigrants, Diego and Shani, sparked by their encounter at a work conference. The story captures the tension, magnetic pull, and doubts that arise as they navigate the complexities of building intimacy from a distance.

Daisy Women is a short film completed in 2018, directed and cinematography by Daniela Mileykovsky. Score composition by Rafaela Dreisin & Sarah Hughes. Choreography by Janae Palmer.

This project was inspired by a collective of Baltimore jazz musicians called Out Of Your Head, who improvised together weekly. Their ability and vulnerability to communicate non-verbally through music resonated deeply with me, igniting the concept for the film. This project uses combination of two mediums—music and dance—as a vehicle to explore non-verbal communication.

Just A Little Longer

A short film by Daniela Mileykovsky.

Synopsis: "Just a Little Longer" unfolds the story of Shani, a career-driven Ukrainian woman, and Diego, a Uruguayan single father, who serendipitously meet at a work conference despite hailing from the opposite coasts of Baltimore and Los Angeles. Their initial encounter sparks a connection. As they part ways and return to their separate lives, a bond begins to take shape, nurtured through text messages and late-night calls over the course of six months. The narrative takes an unexpected turn when Diego, grappling with his own emotional readiness, decides to pull away, leaving Shani ghosted and emotionally adrift. The film sheds light on the universal struggle of the fragility of human connections and the profound impact of timing on matters of the heart.

Directors notes: This film touches on moments in relationships in between the words, even if the moments are a fantasy. I also really wanted to show the beauty and timelessness of Baltimore in this film. It was important for me to highlight both the history and the modern in this charming city.

This short film plays with the idea of performance though it is meant to be the epitome of in the moment collaboration as it was inspired by the improvisational jazz collective called Out Of Your Head. This is a rehearsed piece though a large portion of the music and dance elements are still improvised.

This short film is an exploration of internal thoughts after the loss of first love. It takes you to a place where a persons mind may wander when communication is cut off and feelings get lost in translation.
