Multi-disciplinary work in writing, music, and advocacy

Talya is an activist, writer, musician, improviser and all around right-brainer. She is the Managing Director at Bird City Improv, and directs the Beyond Coal Campaign in the eastern region of the United States. Talya is and has been a member of nearly a dozen improv troupes in the Baltimore area, co-founding and producing "The Peeps Show," a monthly comedy showcase for women and gender minorities, co-founding "The Middle West," a long-form monoscene team, and writing for her sketch duo "Sad Girls Radio." Talya is an experienced facilitator. She has trained thousands of people across the United States to launch activist campaigns, and is an experienced educator and coach - she is currently teaching a sketch writing class and a social justice improv class. Talya has published works across the spectrum of genres and mediums - she has published poetry, short stories, and a non-fiction book that teaches people how to run campaigns. Her album, a folk and dirty blues EP, “Tavor” is available wherever music is streamed. She is currently working on her first fiction novel. In her spare time she can be found playing with her mini-poodle Mia Lettuce, kayaking on Lake Roland, or dreaming up her next creative venture.

The work that Talya has created is rooted in the trials and triumps of the every day, and the never ending search for more.
