Back in the DayWhen I was a little girl, I remember going to Lexington Market with my father every Saturday. We would go from stall to stall picking up goodies for the family and a little something special for myself. This was not true with me and my older sister. She just wanted to get in and get out. Walking home was more like a drag home. lol My little legs couldn't take it.

Mr. Coopa's Neighberhood
Charles has since passed of cancer. As a tribute to the courage, confidence and Charles being a great artist/mentor, I had to dedicate a series to him. I combined both of our styles and am sure he would be pleased.

Off The Grid - Graphic Arts
The graphic arts piece, Off the Grid, captures the spirit of returning to nature through the use of warm, vibrant colors.
-
ConfusionThis graphic piece reflects how I felt when I left Baltimore City. Confusion visualizes being pulled in many directions at once and the struggle to push through the chaos toward calm. I creaved the slow breath of the wild. I needed to get away. I needed time to reconnect with nature.
-
TravelingThe grapgic artwork Traveling captures the city’s hurry giving way to countryside stillness. The asphalt yields to stone and sunset. Color softens, and the city’s clamor dissolves into country light. The hustle and bustle of the city changing to the relaxed atmosphere of the country. My mind is relaxing and my cares are gone.
-
AromatherapyWith the window down and sun on my face, clean air and gentle wind soothed me. The graphic piece, Aromatherapy celebrates that restorative moment when nature sings a quiet love song. I can compare the air to a hymn. A moment of pure inhalation where the world’s noise becomes a gentle, green lullaby. This experience is one everybody should have.
-
Focal PointDriving past strong trees, green fields, and bright skies stirred bittersweet nostalgia. Focal Point, a graphic artwork, honors the longing for nature’s simple, nourishing beauty. It celebrates sunlit trees and remembered skies. There's a bittersweet glance backward that alights the present with the quiet hunger for nature’s touch. It feels as if I've seen things of distant past times.
-
DepthCruising the countryside revealed rich, layered colors of blues, greens, oranges and yellows. Depth is a graphic representation that captures that surreal, breathtaking perspective. Just as a fine artist, the sunlight sculpts the landscape into a painting
-
PopThe graphic painting Pop is a personal tribute to my father. This is an extremely personal piece. My father, who continues to be a guiding presence in my life. His spirit often returns to me through nature. In a moment of presence, he appeared to me as a deep blue, black, and yellow butterfly. This artwork thanks him for protection, guidance, and peace.
-
Off the GridLeaving phones and screens behind allows deep reconnection. The graphic painting, Off the Grid, represents my time meditating on the farm, hugging trees, and shedding tears of joy. Off the Grid is a celebration of spiritual renewal and clarity. No signal, only sap and sky. A solitary pilgrimage into trees, where silence becomes prayer and tears translate into grateful light.
The Trumpet Series
This series spotlights Trombone Shorty, Dizzy Gillespie and Josephine Baker. A few of the names I love in this unique genre called Jazz. Though I never been to New Orleans, I'm sure that there's a brass band or instrument in the mist of daily activites.
-
A Playa's Son.jpgThe bond between a father, son and jazz. -
A Trumpet's Life.jpgMy portrait of Dizzy Gillespie. His cheeks, a man and his music. -
All About the Benjamins.jpgMy vision what a jazz manager/promotor would look like in the 50's. He's about his money. -
Them Here Eyes.jpgJosephine Baker and Dizzy Gillespie performing infant of a most gracious audience. -
Love Affiar With Music_3.jpgSetting, jazz club. They meet by chance. Drinks and good conversation always paired with great music. End scene. -
Funky Riff.jpgMy tribute to Trombone Shorty. The notes in the background are actually a part of the musical score. -
Harlem Blues.jpgShe sings I play... What a perfect combination. This painting stirs a certain emotion that only a singer and band member could understand. -
Hi De Ho.jpgNever come in between a man and his music. That goes for a woman too. -
It's Too Loud.jpgThere's nothing like hearing someone sing for the first time and they sound horrible. The same for a trombone player. Auditions are rough. lol

Baltimore Basics Coming SoonAt this time I had just got fired as graphic supervisor for Baltimore City Department of Public Works. During my time there, I start working on writing scenarios, scheduling people to be filmed, filming, making people comfortable in front of the camera and video editing. I found I loved filming almost as much as I loved graphics. I interviewed real people doing real things. That gave me the idea of interviewing my friends in the industry, telling their stories and educating the world about the BIG THINGS Baltimore has added to the culture. From idea to concept... I had to place this on pause because of COVID-19 but one the "new normal" becomes normal, I will continue to celebrate Baltimore.

Urban Life Series
Medium: Acrylic Paint, Vinyl, Pantone Marker on Canvas
Inspiration: In order to spotlight urban life in many cities I am created a series called “Urban Life”. The same things go on in many cities and I feel the strong need to bring this to life on canvas. I believe this will bridge the gap between the cities and counties so we can realize that what we are doing in Baltimore, MD goes on everywhere.
I want to spotlight the fun, happy, and everyday life of someone in the city. I plan on going to other cities up and down the east coast to portray a cohesive reality series of paintings. Spotlights such as hanging clothes outside, standing on the bus stop, going to the laundry mat, urban dance festivals, and dirt bike riding are some of the point I am touching on.

Bikes Up Guns Down.jpgTitle:Bikes Up Guns Down Medium:Acrylic Paint, Vinyl and Pantone Marker Inspiration: Baltimore's street bike culture provides a strong bond within our neighborhood that has gone worldwide. Everyone who keeps up with the news and/or film knows about 12 o'clock and tune games. This is an urban movement that has been long standing. I salute those who face the streets and the police to give regular Baltimoreans a show. -
