Forever Flower Sculptures
A series of porcelain, wall-hanging vases featuring sculpted and painted flowers. My artwork explores my notions of identity, health, and life to discuss universal experiences. I use a personal vocabulary of imagery and symbolism to illustrate open narratives that invite viewers to imagine their own stories and relationships. I draw inspiration from many things, including: historical artworks and folktales; contemporary illustration, animation, and tattoo; women's history; and my personal experiences. Flowers play a large role in my work. They have rich historical correlations to communication, and brief, beautiful life cycles that remind us to appreciate life and acknowledge death.
