Established in 2013, The Official BaltimoreGirls is a representation of strong females of all ages and very diverse backgrounds who are on the rise to sisterhood in a city that is thirsty for such a connection. The purpose of BaltimoreGirls is to provide a platform where the sisters in Baltimore can express themselves, find their voices and let them be heard, heal, dispel stereotypes and break down boundaries that keep us from bonding, trusting, respecting, and loving ourselves and one another. Working through real life issues, facing fears and finding creative ways to release is how BaltimoreGirls grow. Celebrating themselves is very important to the hard-working, under-appreciated Baltimore girl. Being styled by Baltimore's own Safiyatou and taking photos, filming and performing allows the many sisters in Baltimore to see themselves in a light they have never seen themselves in before. Many local photographers, videographers and artists of many mediums rise to the occasion to collaborate with BaltimoreGirls. Within this collective we have african/modern/ballet dancers, singers, songwriters, poets, femcees, mediators, hairstylists, educators, entrepreneurs and more! Safiyatou has produced many successful events and workshops which showcased the lives of BaltimoreGirls – revealing their stories of trials and triumphs displayed through the beauty of photography, film, and performing arts in the city that they love.
