About David

I am a Baltimore-based artist who has spent over ten years making my own paint from roses. I use this pigment to create quiet, deliberate works on paper and wood, building a small collection shaped by patience and care. Alongside this process, I also work in colored pencil and gouache, using color as both material and language.

Rose

This project focuses on a long-term practice of making paint from roses. For over ten years, I have extracted pigment from rose petals and used it to stain and paint paper and wood, allowing time, repetition, and natural variation to shape the work. The resulting pieces form a small, deliberate collection that reflects patience, fragility, and the transformation of an ephemeral material into lasting color.
