The inner city is not an easy place to live, especially in Baltimore. I wanted to take a comic book approach and blend it with a real world concept to try to appeal to urban youth. The characters are created to show real world people and their split or "two-faced" persona. The media used is a combination of hand drawn, sculpted and 3D assets with extreme detail to human anatomy to give the most realistic feel to allow the reader to connect more with the art and story line as it will hopefully launch into production into the future.

    Non-Smoking Area
Another demonstration of the versatility from a 3D asset. All of my characters in,"The Forsaken" were intended to have a slightly stylized hyper-realistic look. This enabled me to not only capture the detailed line work necessary for my comic renderings but to also capture photo quality images.

    Don't Go Hungry
In a city stricken by poverty, drugs, and violence, it will often cause good people to do bad things just to satisfy that hunger in their body...what ever that craving maybe. This illustration was meant to demonstrate the versatility of 3D renders. It is the exact picture of the "noir" version but with a stylized comic book twist. Also, uses the same pipeline and software.

    Ted Torrin's Alter Ego
Based off an infamous Baltimore city police officer, Ted Torrin is the muscle in this misfit band of heroes. This piece was double the effort because after both characters were sculpted in Zbrush, each had to be rigged, weighted and posed in Maya. Once completed, I could then re-import the models back into Zbrush for lighting and rendering. I then took my render layers and made the needed adjustments to complete the composited piece in Photoshop.

    Alter Ego: Ravenous (Metamorphosis)
To survive the streets of Baltimore, we appear as one thing externally, but act as a "monster" in order to survive. One of many examples of the pipeline and use of inter disciplinary arts and use of multi media as it was first sketched by hand, inked, then scanned. Then using various software such as Zbrush, Maya, and Photoshop allowed for the final product of one of many characters that are used in video games, cartoons, and CG films that we have come to know and love today.

Pictured here are the bipedal and quadruped werewolf minions of Urbaine. They are the transformation of the urban gangs that plague my beloved city of Baltimore.
