Illuminated Manuscript Animals

Surface pattern inspired by illuminated manuscripts and the strange imagery often found within. Some of the animal characters in this pattern reference women from art history such as The Ugly Duchess by Quentin Massys and Judith Beheading Holofernes by Artemisia Gentileschi.

Perfume Bottles

This project was inspired by the shapes, labels, and aesthetic of antique perfume bottles. What started as plans to just illustrate one quickly turned into eleven unique perfumes, tinctures, and whatnot with names unlikely to be found on actual bottles such as "Fairy Tears," "Camphorated Crow's Feet" and "Oil of Rat." Many of the bottles invoke the substance they contain through their shape, as the "Eau de Parfum Iris" uses eye imagery, as well as the design of the labels, seen in the almond blossoms on the bottle of cyanide in reference to the almond flavor it has.
