About J.B.

Baltimore City

Self-taught photographer and digital artist. Walked away from career in marketing and design at the age of 31 to pursue passion for dog advocacy and creative pet portraiture full-time. Best known creatively for his unique anthropomorphized canine headshots and surreal compositing techniques. View more of J.B.'s work by visiting Puptrait.com or view his recent series Paper Hats.

Paper Hats

The goal of Paper Hats is to show that all anyone or anything needs to shine is a second chance. Whether it’s a foster dog who was dealt a rough hand or a newspaper circular printed only to be never read, that with a little love, patience and creativity could be something amazing.

Our approach for the series was pretty straightforward. We raided our recycling bin for materials (newspaper, paper plates, even a few plastic cups) and designed elaborate headdresses and collars for rescue and foster dogs.

Half of all art sale proceeds from Paper Hats benefit Bella’s Bully Buddies, an absolutely fantastic local 501(c)(3) nonprofit 100% volunteer operated dog rescue and foster organization

The series can be viewed in its entirety by visiting puptrait.com/paperhats
