Big Scruff Full EP
What's got your neck in a big bunch? A sometimes sickening, yet fun fusion of pop, punk, shoegaze, and any other genre that was swirling around my head at the time of crafting this project. Big Scruff explores what it means move past what drags you down and pulls you back to what once hurt you.

About Isaac
Isaac Lucy (b. 2001, Jacksonville, FL), is a trans filmmaker and musician based out of Baltimore, MD and works as a core member of the East Coast art collective Sideworld. Whether it be under the maximalist and introspective musical project I.L.L., or scoring films that make your skin crawl or uncomfortably chuckle, they craft singular experiences using what little they have at their disposal at any given time. From borrowed pedals to glasses clanking, anything can be a tool in their process… more
Big Scruff, an EP by I.L.L.
Big Scruff is a musical exploration of repression and suicidal ideation, and how those things can rule your life. Through the writing process of both of the music and lyrics I pulled from my own experience of struggling with said themes as a trans person from the south. I spent a year off and on working on this project, with it starting off as a somewhat lighthearted album that emulated a children's book, which then took a massive turn to become what it is now. Every sound that is heard in the project is all recorded DIY at home with the very limited amount of equipment that I own or borrowed from friends., which includes a guitar, a practice amp, five pedals, and a small mixer/USB audio interface. These limitations, while frustrating at times, lent itself to a more eclectic sound that works with the messaging and feel of the EP itself. Vocals on the project are either myself, or Arianna Ganley's. All mixing was done by myself, which was definitely a learning process since I am self -taught. Mastering was done by Kyle Weeks down in Jacksonville, Fl, which brings everything together and glues the whole project together.

Big Scruff EP Cover(Multi-media collage, 2025, Baltimore, MD) This was made by myself and my partner Arianna Ganley. They helped craft the letters in the physical collage and I compiled it all in Photoshop. Pictured are my siblings and my Mom, who are very important to me and inform a lot of the themes that are discussed in the EP itself. My love for them inspires a lot of the more sentimental moments in the EP, the hope that shines through the somewhat self-imposed muck that is the depression that follows continuing to not live as your true self.

The Miracle
"There’s a great big house fire burning out of control. It’s already consumed half the homes on the block. I can see a family quietly writhing in one of the overgrown yards. Their hands smile wider than your eyes are allowed to see. "
This project was produced during the late winter of 2025, I acted in the project as well as crafting the entire soundscape. From foley to the soundtrack itself I spent four whole days meticulously creating the auditory world of the Miracle. I leaned into the fuzzy aesthetic by employing near broken technology to create creature noises and feedback to indicate movement and reality manipulation. I pulled goofy samples from the internet and made them disturbing and guttural. All that hard work paid off since the project screened at the New/Next film festival here in Baltimore as apart of the DIY block of short films. The short also screened at New Works in March 2025, and as an honorable mention during the Baltimore Horror Film Fest in October 2025.
Cross-Country Escapism, an EP by Yell Occult
My previous music project with Lilith Videt Weeks and Arianna Ganley, this project was a lot of fun and served as a learning process for collaboration and music production. I took on a lot of the producing efforts, which had the steepest learning curve attached out of everything else included on this project. As apart of this project, Luke Clarke and Noah Clarke produced a music video for the first track on the album, which the extra footage became the visualizer for my next project.
Concert Photography and Creative Photo Editing
In late 2021 and 2022, while I was living in Tallahassee, Fl, I volunteered with an organization formerly known as Muse Tallahassee, I assisted in event planning/running and mainly photography and videography. I took concert photos and videos for their promotional efforts, as well as editing interviews and documentary shorts. The photos listed are ones that I kept for creative editing instead of for strictly promotional efforts. Also included are other photos taken and edited in the same time period.
