  • BROOD X

    BROOD X is a short film that explores the fascinating world of cicadas and the circle of life they embody with their 17-year dormant cycle. Through stunning visual meditations, viewers witness the remarkable transformation of these creatures as they emerge from the ground, mature, and ascend trees to procreate for one glorious and fleeting season that is all about them and their posterity. Drawing on a parallel to the human experience, Brood X metaphorically portrays the struggle of an artist to free their spirit from the confines of their earthly existence.

Yevgeniy K'banchik is Ukrainian-born filmmaker with a diverse background of film production, including cinematography, directing, writing, special effects, and editing. He received formal training at Moscow Film School, and field experience working in Europe and the US, including a variety of international projects.  Since 2002, K'banchik has been working as an independent filmmaker, creating a range of experimental films and documentaries that have been shown in festivals around the world… more

    Daydream Of The Sleepwalker.
    An unrecognized painter encounters his own ego in a form of an uninvited strange guest. As a result of this encounter, the struggling artist is compelled to reexamine his views on art production.
    This experimental short is created using stop-motion technique, featuring real-life characters and interviews.
