Turn Around Norman is a Baltimore/DC/NY based jazz quintet focused on performing original modern compositions and re-workings of compositions not typically played in the jazz setting. The band consists of Cam Collins-alto sax, Brent Madsen-trumpet, JJ Wright-piano, Adam Hopkins-bass, and Nathan Ellman-Bell-drums.

All members contribute compositions and arrangements, but the music featured in this profile are composed by bassist Adam Hopkins. Turn Around Norman recorded their debut album "We Turn Around" in March of 2010, and it will be released in Spring 2011. The two compositions on this profile are Hopkins' contributions to the record, and are original pieces.

    The Awakening was composed by pianist J.J. Wright. It features a bass solo by Hopkins as the first solo. The track will be included on our debut album "We Turn Around" in it's entirety. This version is an excerpt which fades out after the bass solo.
