Apprentice to Transformation (Album)
Apprentice to Transformation is an album of original and traditional fiddle tunes witnessing Death as a moment in transformation, rather than the total end.
Music written, performed and produced by Georgia Beatty (fiddle, voice, guitar).
Released October 2022.
"I began the making of this album in 2020, a time when I needed a landscape for grieving the amount of Death that had been boldly showing up on our earth, in our human species, and my own self. I asked my fiddle to find melodies that were concerned only with never being the same, yet beholden to repetition. I looked for words to sing that brought me out of the ego of a single moment. These songs dance, writhe, and pray. I hope they help you as they did me."

Hornlåt Vals Etter Kerstin Ivares (Swedish Traditional Song)
This tune is traditional to Dalarna, Sweden and was taught to me by fiddler and singer Andrea Larson (based in Richmond, VA). We sang it together for this recording, though the harmony part (sung by Georgia) was composed and is not traditional.
The tune name means "Horn Tune As Sung By Kerstin Ivares". A horn tune is a melody that would have originally been played on a flute made out of a cow's horn.
Original harmony and performance by Georgia Beatty. Traditional melody and performance by Andrea Larson.
Released October 2022.
