    In some parts of the world girls as young as 10 are forced to marry often older men. These images are of young brides re: India and E.Africa. The work is richly layered with stitch using copper wire on mesh, collage, print and stitched text.

I have been a professional artist for over 50 yrs  it is a part of my life and work. Throughout my long career I worked as a Community Artist both in the UK and the USA. The part-time hours per week although, financially difficult, gave me the flexibility to concentrate on my Art. Social Justice/History

The work in this Project addresses Social Justice, in particular, the many killings as a result of Gun Violence and Police brutality in the USA. It also relates to the history of this country. The images are digitally photographed and manipulated with stitch on handmade felt, textiles, etc. In Memoriam Curtain had an immediate response by some viewers who have written poem, texts in relation to this large Installation.  Dimensions: 12ftHx10ftWxo.5"D  2020-2023.

The Innocent 2012-2022 relates to the victims killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut and Robb Elementary School in Uvalde,Texas. These works are circular in context (Spiritual Journey)  The work is richly layered with stitch using the sewing machine and computer. Wood (Gun) is incorporated in the work -wood using the laser cutter and stitch (Text)

The removal of the Confederate monuments around the USA has resulted in demonstrations around the country. The boxed Confederate was a monument in the grounds of the Montgomery County Offices in Rockville, MD. The statue has since been removed to Harper's Ferry,MD. 

Included in this Project are the recent events in Gaza and included is an image of the destruction of the Place. This work is richly layered with stitch entirely and has form and dimension. 

 

The practice of Child Brides is included in this section. The forced marriages of young children is found in many parts of the world and it is important to bring this issues to the Public's awareness.

    This work addresses the plight of wars around the world and the people with power who destroy a city with no regrets.The work is densely created entirely with stitch to show density of surface. The images show destruction and the entire collapse of a place.
