About Eileen

Howard County

Maryland artist Eileen Williams widens the conventional boundaries of fabric as a medium, by using fabric as her color paint palette to create one of a kind art. If you think you have seen every style of art there is, in past art shows, websites, galleries, then you may want to take a look at Eileen’s one of a kind fabric and mixed-media art. Using yards of toile, to contemporary fibers, to whimsical textiles, fabric is stretched, canvas style, over triangle, rectangle or square wooden frames. Her... more

Celebration of Women Through Faces In Fabric

The love of fabric inspires me the most. From the yards of toile, to contemporary fibers, to whimsical textiles, fabric is the paint on my paint brush with many colors to choice from. Through this love of fabric the series, Celebration Of Women Through Faces In Fabric, evolved. As I completed more pieces in this series, incorporating one or more faces into the design, a sense that these were faces of women became clear, some with a story to tell about the various facets of their lives. One could think that women are like fabric in that fabric comes in all colors and textures, from many different cultures. When fibers are combined the end result is distinct pieces of fabric. When integrity, purpose in life, strength, inner beauty combine, a women with a unique pattern evolves. The goal of this series is not only to showcase the beautiful fabrics that inspires me but to bring to the for front of one to know, your unique pattern that makes you special and the importance you give to your life and those around you. Also, to love who you are.

Project #2 Faces

The series Faces was jumped started from my series Celebration of Women Through Faces in Fabric. This series incorporates embedded fabric covered faces . No particular gender or race, just scenes left to the viewer's imagination. Art is universal and speaks to the individual in many ways, awakening our senses at different levels promoting energy and enthusiasm. This is an on going series and will continue in 2017.

The Blue Jean Art Project -Time Lapse

The Blue Jean Project was an art piece created to be auctioned off at Washington, DC's, 10th Annual Blue Jeans Ball, benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank, whose mission is to feed those who suffer from hunger in the Washington metro area. Blue jean scraps were donated to be incorporated as part of the main material used. I was one of three finalist whose denim creation was chosen to be auctioned off. Wanted to document through time lapse photos, how the Blue Jean Art Project evolved into a completed art piece.
