Bluefields, Nicaragua 2010
Bluefields, Nicaragua is the place and space of Afro-descendent people on the Atlantic Ocean of Nicaragua. During this sojourn I visited with Nicaraguans from Bluefields who were organizing to control their land, water, and homes on the Atlantic Coast. They showed me maps of their autonomous area and the structure of their local community controlled government and leaders. Their are many lessons for us to learn from everyday people organizing and building their dreams as they learn about their political and cultural relationship to Bluefields and the legacy of their Afro-descendant history.
