I often take photos of scenes with plans to do a painting from them. Sometimes I get a photo that I think is already a piece of art on it's own. I love the sponteneity of capturing a moment with the camera...how the light is falling or a splash of water. I do love to paint from these images too, but have found it to be fun to hunt for and capture chances of beauty. These images are unretouched digital photos...check out burning sky, it was November at sunset, and the sky really did look like this...no fire, just the November light.

This was a lucky chance of dark and light, the shadows were falling dramatically across the figures, and the background falls into black.

This is a little angel in a fountain at church, it's in a hidden garden. The setting matches the weeping angel, the water is murky and there are the little pink flower pettles that have rained down.
