Every light painting has been a study of color control, but at this point I was convinced that I understood how to make predictable patterns. I found that the non-linear control circuit that I use continued to surprise me with its complexity. This piece also called for new ideas about how to interact with light between the LED sources and the screen.
Uma is a Hindu goddess of the mountains whose name means ‘light’. I chose this theme for a light painting that would present a subjective image, as compared to the abstract color environments used in previous works.
