Skipping Rocks is the second album by Baltimore's very own Old Time Folk Music revivalists Ken & Brad Kolodner. The father-son duo has teamed up yet again to release an album of traditional and original Old Time Music pushing the boundaries of what is considered "traditional." Ken Kolodner is a world-renowned hammered dulcimer player and fiddler and Brad Kolodner is a contest-winning innovative clawhammer banjo player and fiddler. Acoustic guitar legend Robin Bullock and bassist Alex Lacquement join Ken & Brad on the album.

Skipping Rocks embodies Ken & Brad's approach towards traditional American folk music. The album weaves together sophisticated yet subtly complex traditional melodies with creative original compositions. According to Devon Leger of Hearth Music, "Listening to Brad & Ken Kolodner’s Skipping Rocks not only highlights the magic that seems to spark in musical families, but also transports its listeners to the soft shores of a summer lake, where each skip of the rock is a moment that ripples out; from father to son, from a duo to a musical community, from old tunes to new ones."

Ken & Brad are at the heart of the growing Old Time Music community in Charm City. They founded and lead the wildly popular bi-weekly Old Time Jam at Liam Flynn's Ale House in Station North. They also organized the Baltimore Square Dance which will take place at Mobtown Ballroom on November 23rd. Brad is a DJ for WAMU's Bluegrass Country in DC where he hosts "The Brad Kolodner Show," a contemporary Bluegrass, Old Time and Americana radio program. Ken has been a staple of the local folk music community for nearly three decades as a teacher, performer and amabassador for traditional folk music.
