About Barbara Epstein
https://barbaraepsteingruber.wordpress.com/
Barbara Epstein Gruber's paintings and drawings are about light, color, air, touch and the experience of painting. They are painted directly from life, and they are about looking, about the particular vibration that occurs when one specific color is placed next to another. They speak to the abstract nature of vision, the way our eyes see in pieces of color and shape.
Ms. Gruber studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art… more

The Yard 40 x 30
My husband wanted a dog. I did not. And, IF we were to have a dog, I wanted a 6 or 7 year old fully trained flat coat retriever, who would lie quietly and chew on something or other while I worked.
So, we compromised. We got a dog.
And what we found, (well, what my husband found on Pitties and Purrs rescue), was a 4 month old Jack Russell mix. (He WAS house trained.) Thank you, Nichol!!
Anyway, this is to say-we also got a fence. So Steve can run around as much as he likes! And I can paint in the yard.
I adore the little guy. But the only time he lies quietly is when he's exhausted from being a Jack Russell mix.

Mrs Green 0561.jpgMrs Green passed away this past year, and her son asked if I would do a painting of her. He had this wonderful photo. The color in the figure is muted, and the landscape behind her is in full color, but also a bit muted to convey the idea of a memory.

Several years ago my son and his family moved to Glasgow. They TOOK my granddaughter and left the cat. Which seemed, somehow, unfair. At any rate, it offered a new place to paint. It is greener there, the cities more compact, the museums plentiful (and mostly free) and the weather just godawful-at least in winter. In summer, it can be glorious. Just make sure you pack, well, everything. Taps ahff!

Scotland YardMy son and daughter-in- law moved to Scotland a while back. They TOOK MY GRANDDAUGHTER with them and left me the cat. The cat was lovely, but did not speak as well as the granddaughter (who is now fluent in Glaswegian), and she found a home with a loving student. (The cat, not the granddaughter. The granddaughter is still with her Mum and Dad.) Anyway, this is their yard. It is in Scotland. Scotland Yard. (I know. I KNOW...) Gouache on paper, 6 x 6
