Mondawmin Mall Mural Project
This 6 wall mural project in collaboration with Brookfield Properties were themed around positive and uplifting concepts for the community to indulge in while walking the cat walk area. The individual wall concepts consisted of highlighting prominent West Baltimore figures, positive messages about chasing your aspirations, showcasing the west Baltimore row home architecture and the youth. The location gains hundreds of pedestrian traffic, so having these messages seen daily will uplift the community.
Henderson Hopkins Mural Project
I created an 1,800 square foot mural in collaboration with the Henderson-Hopkins School to give ode to the Baltimore community through creating a mural on the school property
The mural reflected the community values and traditions of the children and teachers of the Henderson Hopkins School. The long-term educational impact that this project will have on the school community is the history this artwork will portray about the school and become a teaching moment for the children that attend and its neighbors. Knowing the foundation and history provides much more clarity and vision, which can give children more pride and motivation to attend their school and make a difference. 2023.
Towson Flock Mural
The mural theme is inspired by the well-known staples of the Towson Community. Lawson put an emphasis on the most iconic buildings that Towson is known for including the Towson Courthouse, representing Towson as the county seat; and Johnny Unitas Stadium, which honors the iconic Baltimore Colt and Ravens Ring of Honor inductee.
The focal point of the mural is a fan descending into the city with balloons spelling R-A-V-E-N-S, intended to give off a nostalgic childhood feeling of being carefree, which Lawson emphasizes throughout his portfolio. The feature also allowed him to make the art interactive as there is space for fans to pose as if they are holding the balloons as well. The mural adorns the northern wall of the Dulaney Plaza shopping center, on the corner of Dulaney Valley Rd. and Fairmount Ave across from the Towson Town Center. 2023.
