Portraiture
Portraits of people wearing neutral expressions offer the chance for viewers to craft opinions based on their own experiences and careful observation. That viewer engagement brings these images to life with corresponding energy.
Flowers
Flowers have been favorite subjects of realist painters for centuries. Their varied heightened colors and shapes have inspired designs in cultures all around the globe. Within this project, shadows cast by these flower arrangements combine with the flowers themselves to animate the paintings. Paintings of flowers have been a part of the artist's production since he first began to paint in the early 60's.
Winter Landscapes
Landscapes in winter that portray natural elements like trees, bushes, grassy pastures and dark skies with drama and gravitas.
Figures
Figurative work depends on connection for meaning. Similar to the Vessel Project and the Portrait Project, figure studies invite viewers to slow their engagement of a painting and lean on their own observations and experiences to embellish the meaning of a particular piece of art.
