The bottom right is the marker, reminiscent of a grave, it appears to be both receding back like a doorway and coming forward as a solid object. In the background the horizon line sits a mountainscape and a dark sky.

About Xyl

Xyl Lasersohn's large scale oil paintings address the uncanniness of the ordinary. Originally from NE Ohio, Xyl currently lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland. Xyl received a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art before earning an MFA from The Hoffberger School of Painting at Maryland Institute College of Art.
