Amaka Erika Korie is a multidisciplinary artist based in Baltimore, MD who explores sustainability and self-empowerment in her art.

Korie is the creator of Mira Mma, an upcycling art boutique specializing in affirmation art. Mira Mma Elemental Collection

The Elemental Collection is Mira MMA's first series of mirrors inspired by the natural world, offering a portal into an immersive landscape. Upcycled art sets its parameters based on the original piece. I enjoyed the challenge of transforming these frames using the techniques of painting and wire wrapping to create these portals into some of Earth's greatest scenes- lush forests and bright beaches.

    This was a commissioned piece inspired by Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay." The greenery and florals were secured to the frame through wire wrapping. The aim is for any viewer to see the evergreen nature within themselves when they see themselves in this mirror.
