At the beginning of the pandemic, like people all over the world, my family started spending more time outside. We have lived in this one hundred year old house since 1984. Rarely did we use the front porch, except for watching the occasional rain

storms. I constructed My Tiny Porch in appreciation of my 'newfound' space. Spring 2021, my son and I started a podcast, most times recording while lounging on our front porch. I created the tiny diorama to connote the feeling of relaxing on our porch, with

potted plants, my husband’s metal sculpture and a comfortable chair.

I constructed the artwork using cardboard (up-cycling) and paper mache and finished with encaustic painting and oil stick. I used plastic medicine containers to create the potted plants, and a wire champagne muselet as a potted plant hanger. I constructed the metal sculpture and chair also with cardboard, paper mache and encaustic paint.
