About Geffery

Baltimore City

My name is Geffery Cassuto. I was born in 1985 in Baltimore, MD. I was raised in Pasadena, MD where I attended public school. I am a self taught musician specializing in string instruments, mainly guitar, banjo, violin/fiddle, and mandolin. I have been performing solo and with bands in the Baltimore area and nationwide since 2004. My music is meditative in nature and varies between singer/songwriter style folk music and old time Americana, to composed suites for steel string guitars,… more

E.P. 2017

This self produced e.p. contains 4 compositions for finger-picked solo guitar and throat singing that were composed and recorded in 2017. The songs are orginal as well as inspired by sources of Americana and folk. They were written as way to deal with the grief of the death of my best friend that year. His brother gifted me his 12 string guitar after his passing and these compositions are what transpired. They are my attempt to summarize our friendship, contemplate death and finality as well as trying to make a light for myself to hold in order to see my path in the dark. I hope that others may find similar responses to this music.

Before The Apocalypse

This album consists of original guitar duets composed by myself and my deceased best friend Jan Rogalski in 2017. Sounds of Uncertainty

This album is a sampling of numerous experiments of sound and composition for electrified banjo and acoustic guitar.  Most of these songs were improvised solo creations with the exception of a few that were written to be sung. I explore alternate tunings and picking styles for guitar and banjo with one electronic collage to end the album. All tracks are performed, recorded and produced in 2012 by Geffery Stewart.
