Zachary's profile

Zachary Michel has written, acted, and worked on Baltimore film and theater productions for over a decade. As a producer, he most recently executive produced the feature film "Situation #64," which was signed on by industry powerhouse United Talent Agency in late 2025. He was a producer on the feature “Little Doors” with Lexi Tannenholtz of The Space Program and Graham Mason of IPP, which is currently entering the festival circuit.

His debut short film “He’s a Big Boy Now” cast Baltimore native rapper and actor Dapper Dan Midas in a story capturing the challenges of a neurodivergent life and arrested development. His mission is to employ his talents as a filmmaker to highlight themes and tell stories through film while continuing to develop his body of work as an actor, writer, and director. In 2025, he acted in a number of national commercial spots in addition to short films, including "Call of the Moon" and "Midnight Mass," each by Benjamin Schwartz, "Couples Therapy" by James Cruz, and "Where Did It Go" by Leon Lai.

Michel was awarded a 2025 Grit Fund grant with support of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts as well as grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts in support of The Filmmakers Playground (TFP). TFP is a film program dedicated to connecting Baltimore’s filmmakers with national industry professionals to build sustainable careers rooted in local talent. He is a 2025/2026 film fellow with the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund.

Michel is a winner of the 2023 Baltimore Pitch Competition. In 2023, he was awarded the Creativity Grant and Professional Development Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council for his filmmaking endeavors.

Prior to film, Michel co-founded the Charm City Fringe (CCF) theater and arts festival in 2012. Under Michel’s leadership, CCF was named Baltimore Magazine’s “Best Eclectic Festival” in 2018 and awarded the Downtown Baltimore Award that same year for its contributions to cultural and artistic achievement in the city.
