Yuqi's profile

Yuqi Wang is an artist working in Baltimore, MD. Rooted in observation of daily life under modern society, Yuqi uses video, photography, performance, costume, and installation forms to explore the perception and behavior of human beings and its relations with modern life, with particular interest in the cultural identity, migration, urban construction, modern technologies, common sense, limit and potential of human body, and subdued emotions of individuals. She questioned how modern society shapes and affects people physically and psychologically.

Yuqi is the recipient of Vermont Studio Center Residency( Burlington, VT) with VSC Artist Grant in 2019. Her artworks have been exhibited in group and solo shows at ‘Sindikit Project ( Baltimore,MD),Greenpoint Gallery(New York City, NY), Towson University (Towson,MD), LabBodies Performance Art Review (Baltimore,MD). Her photographic projects are featured in Vogue Italia (Italy), A5 Magazine(UK),  BmoreArt Magazine( Baltimore, MD), Starts Magazine( CN ), and PH Museum.


Yuqi has excelled in commercial realm as well. Before coming to the United States from China, she worked designing the covers and illustrations used to sell books published by China Youth Press, the pioneers of modern Chinese publishing Industry. After moving to United States, she works as photographer for national leading Photography Studio - VHT Studio. And she is invited by fashion brand ROMEO HUNTE (New York), collaborating promotional campaign for several seasons, and they worked together during New York Fashion Week 2018. 

Yuqi received her BFA in Photography from Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China in 2015. She earned her MFA in Photographic and Electronic Media from Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, USA in 2017.
