Trisha's profile
Trisha Kyner is an Associate Professor of Art at CCBC, teaching ceramics and foundations. She has a B.A. from University of California, Santa Cruz, a B.F.A. for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an M.F.A. from the University of Montana. Her work has been shown at Grounds for Sculpture, the National Council for Education in Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and the National Gallery of Art in Mumbai, India. She lives in a converted grocery store in Woodlawn with her collaborator David Friedheim. Her work was included in the Lark book 500 Figures in Clay II. She has been awarded residencies at Watershed Center For the Ceramic Arts and A.I.R. Vallauris in France.

I am interested in the body’s expressive potential, as well as the question of how a sculpted figure can confront its own display. Pose is the leaping off point, and then art history, feminist theory and daily life usually trickle into the works. I love the precariousness and challenge of working in clay. It moves like flesh."
