Baker Artist Portfolios

Sherry Jankiewicz is an artist and educator residing in Ellicott City, Maryland.  Sherry’s work is established in printmaking, including relief and monotype prints, and extends to collages and paintings on carved woodblocks.  Her imagery narrates the idea of change through the lens of psychology, the environment, and personal history.  Bold color shifts and flowing marks create a sense of movement adding an emotional experience to the work.

Sherry received her MFA in Print Media from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon.  She is a Resident Artist with the Howard County Arts Council and a member of The Artists Gallery in Ellicott City.  She exhibits her work locally and nationally, most notably in her solo show, Carving Brushmarks, at the School of Art at the University of Tennessee, and the group show, Stand Out Prints, at High Points Center for Printmaking in Minnesota.  Sherry’s print for the Migration print portfolio through SGCI was featured in The Hand Magazine and has traveled nationally and internationally for exhibit.  She won a juried project to design a public art relief metal sculpture located in Auburn, Washington.  Sherry is a Fulbright Scholarship recipient, and traveled to Mexico City with UMBC to study the language and culture of Mexico.

Sherry is currently a high school art teacher in Maryland.  Her teaching experience also includes teaching at the University of Tennessee in the Art Education department as a Clinical Assistant Professor where she supervised new art teachers and taught art education courses.  She spends her time outside of the studio and classroom visiting family, playing with her nephews, and enjoying nature.
