Sam's profile

Sam Lacombe was born in 1966 in Cincinnati, Ohio and has lived in Baltimore since 2006. He studied painting at Boston University with David Aronson, George Nick, and Robert D’Arista. His work revolves around the issues of form, light, space, design, and process, and for the past twenty years his paintings have centered on urban Americana graphic signage.  Sam was a semi finalist in the 2007 Bethesda Painting Award competition, and in 2019 he received an Individual Artist Award from the Maryland State Art Council. His work is in several private collections and has been exhibited in group and solo shows nationally and abroad.

Teaching art is has been a passion for Sam all of his adult life. He began teaching in Boston in 1994 and currently teaches at Maryland Institute College of Art and Towson University.
